This calculator only does the arithmetic. Check the correct GST rate for your product or service on the GST portal or with your CA.
How the calculation works
Adding GST to a price
GST = amount × rate ÷ 100. Invoice total = amount + GST. Within a state, half the GST is CGST and half is SGST.
Removing GST from a price
Taxable value = inclusive amount × 100 ÷ (100 + rate). GST = inclusive amount − taxable value.
How do I calculate GST on an amount?
For an amount that does not include GST, GST = amount × rate ÷ 100 and the total is amount + GST. For example, 18% on ₹10,000 is ₹1,800, so the total is ₹11,800.
How do I remove GST from a GST-inclusive price?
Taxable value = inclusive amount × 100 ÷ (100 + rate). For example, ₹11,800 including 18% GST has a taxable value of ₹10,000 and GST of ₹1,800.
When is it CGST + SGST and when is it IGST?
Within the same state the tax is split equally into CGST and SGST. For a supply to a different state the full rate is charged as IGST. See our guide on CGST, SGST and IGST for the details.
Which GST rate should I use?
The rate depends on the HSN or SAC code of the item or service and is set by GST Council notifications. Look up your code on the GST portal or ask your CA; this calculator only does the arithmetic.
